La Milpa Field Station is located in the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area and is operated by the Programme for Belize. The Field Station is a rustic lodge in a prime birding location. You are literally miles from anyone here at the Field Station.
The location is very good for usually hunted species of birds, Cracids (Great Currasow, Crested Guan, and Plain Chachalaca) and Occelated Turkey are abundant here. This is one of the best areas for two of the harder semi endemics of Belize, the Gray-throated Chat and Rose-throated Tanager. The chat and tanager are usually found in "Bajos", wet depressed areas of the forest.
While a day trip to the Field Station is possible, I recommend spending the night, several days would be even better.
